In 2016, Voadora premiered this free version of Don Juan at Escenas do Cambio, with a group of senior citizens from Santiago de Compostela. From this performance, the organisers of MA Scène Nationale Montbeliárd invite them to make a French version of the play.
From that first collaboration a proposal was born, in this year of 2017, to work with the local automotive industry. Workers of PSA Peugeot Citroën in Vigo and volunteers from several generations connected to the factory will become the protagonists of this participatory show. We are facing a project still under construction that will bring on stage the world of garages, also connected to counterculture and rock, a space of freedom, a unique space where cars are the protagonists, as are promises of travel, links to other distant, faraway places. Voadora returns to MA Scène Nationale – Pays de Montbeliárd with a piece that will open the season at the Theatrè de Montbéliard and then go on tour in France.
The work is built around the world of cars and the role of women in the industry of the twentieth century. A new, unique adventure for the participants and the audience. As they themselves write “If happiness is not the goal, but the road, we will most likely have to buy a car.”
