In 2016, the European Corpus network brought together Israel Galván, Pedro G . Romero and Filiep Tacq to the library at the University of Leuven, one of the oldest universities in Europe. Un coup de dés… by Mallarmé is the poem that founded modernism in poetry. On that poem, in the 1970s, the Belgian artist Marcel Broodthaers acted upon Mallarmé’s book. The erudite talk-dialogue between Pedro and Filiep is interrupted by the Spanish choreographer and dancer, thus giving rise to a three-way conversation in two parts, where during the first part 2 people speak and during the second part the third one dances.
The Library and Archive of Galicia (where last year we already enjoyed The Quiet Volume, a masterpiece by Tim Etchells and Ant Hampton) will be filled with the dance and foot tapping by Israel Galván, a unique and subversive dance, where identity is at stake, where partying is pain and pain is partying, showing us that yes indeed, a book may also be danced.
