Radouan Mriziga presents at Escenas do Cambio his first creation: 55, a solo in which he constantly plays with the spectator’s perspective and expectations. In 55, Mriziga turns his solo into a two-faceted dance-research. One facet focuses on the implementation of a series of movements, putting himself in an increasingly complex situation. The other analyzes the narrative character of certain changing situations, emphasizing body volume. The artist gradually measures space and creates an intricate solo pattern, turning 55 into an exploration of the relationship between body and space through simple gestures, with a quiet intensity.
Radouan Mriziga
Studied in Morocco, Tunisia and France, and graduated from the famous PARTS school of contemporary dance in Brussels. Since 2008 he lives and works there as an artist at the Moussem Nomadic Arts Centre, a center whose activities reflect on the impact of globalization caused by old and new migratory flows. He worked in Half Elf Zomeravond with Bart Meuleman, and has been one of the performers in the production Re: Zeitung, a project by PARTS and De Munt in which a new generation of professional dancers elaborate on Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s repertoire, one of the most relevant pieces shown at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Bruselas), as delicate and accurate as a poem.
